Most of the time when I play co-op games with this particular friends I tend to host them, since my system is a bit more powerful than his and my internet connection is somewhat more reliable, however we've begun to rethink that setup. So, I decided to pick up Generation Zero and play it with a friend. That exact scenario has happened to me *way* more times that I'd like to remember, and all since buying/using this 2080. I've essentially given up playing ARK for the time being, since I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating it is it be running for dear life from a giant man-eating dinosaur, only to suddenly be staring at your desktop and have your friends tell you that your body and all gear just got eaten. For those curious, a GTX 980 draws about 165W while an RTX 2080 draws 215W, with a 500W and 650W power supply being recommended, respectively. I also looked in to the power draw of both cards, just to verify that my power supply was in fact sufficient, and it most definitely is (EVGA SuperNOVA 850). Just for gits and shiggles I put the old GTX 980 back in and fired up the game and it worked perfectly for several days, but upon switching back to the 2080 it crashed within minutes. Eventually I wiped my system and reinstalled Windows, then made sure that all drivers were up to date, but still ARK crashed. I pulled out the card, blew out my entire system, verified that there was no gunk in/on any contacts, tested all my memory, and re-seated the card, but same issue. I hunted down multiple registry edits that were rumored to improve reliability, but they made no difference. I (of course) tried both the most up to date drivers, and various versions people had reported better stability with, but to no avail. Sometimes I received a message from the game with crash details, sometimes it was a message that the card had stopped responding, but most of the time it was just a sudden crash to desktop. When I first purchased this card I was really only playing ARK: Survival Evolved, and almost immediately the game began to constantly crash. Prior to this card I was happily running an EVGA GTX 980 for years without issue, but it was obviously beginning to show its age.

I can max out the settings on virtually every game I play and the performance is great.
